OUR RESEARCH
Epigenetic mechanisms regulate gene expression by governing genome regions to maintain either gene activity or silencing. These mechanisms are achieved through direct chemical modification of the DNA, as well as by histone modification at specific loci. We are interested in exploring the functions and roles of histone methyltransferases and demethylases, and in understanding how these enzymes, which are responsible for histone methylation and demethylation, regulate the differentiation of mesodermal-derived progenitor cells and cytoprotection under oxidative stress conditions in the human body. We are part of the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Interdisciplinary Biosystem and located in Building 5 at the Inha university.
